Want to personalize your iPhone with a custom ringtone? Whether it’s a song, a funny sound, or a notification tone, this guide will show you how to set a custom ringtone on iPhone in 2025—even without iTunes!
Note: This method works on iOS 19, 18, and older versions. Apple may change steps in future updates.
Get GarageBand from the App Store (free).
Open GarageBand → Tap "+" → "Audio Recorder" → Tap the loop icon (top-right) → "Files" → Select your MP3 file.
Hold and drag the audio clip to adjust length (max 30 seconds for ringtones).
Tap the down arrow (top-left) → "My Songs" → Long-press your project → "Share" → "Ringtone" → "Export".
Go to Settings → Sounds & Haptics → Ringtone → Choose your new tone.
If GarageBand isn’t working, try this:
Use Online Audio Converter to change MP3 → M4R.
Connect iPhone → Open iTunes → Drag M4R file into "Tones" → Sync.
A: Check if the file is under 30 seconds and in M4R format.
A: No, due to DRM protection. Use royalty-free MP3s instead.
